I had a little shipboard accident and exposed a couple of my bones to fresh the fresh sea air. This was an experience which at the time, was quite unpleasant, but now has quite a lot of romance to it.  The technique I was taught was focused on painting ships.  It goes like this "Once for dust, twice for rust."
